This course focuses on the basics of urban design and planning theories, methods and development of urban spaces through history; principles and techniques. Analysis of urban physical pattern; contemporary concepts & trends; The inter-relationship between key urban activities in the urban planning process.



This course will trace the chronological development in Architecture throughout the prehistoric periods, and in ancient Egypt, Near East, Greece and Rome. It will discuss the historical background, architectural and building characteristics, geological, geographical, social, cultural, political and religious issues influencing the development styles and forms through different representative examples.
